1964-1965 New York World's Fair |
General Motors created the Futurama from its inception through the final design. The General Motors Styling Staff, which is usually concerned with the design and appearance of GM products, conceived the pavilion, the ride, the Avenue of Progress and the divisional displays. The H. G. Stubbs Co. of Detroit, following detailed Styling Staff specifications, constructed the principal portion of the ride and exhibits. Work on the project began in October, 1960. Most of the ride, environmental sets, research and product exhibits and other displays were constructed in Detroit, dismantled and shipped to the Futurama building installation.
